Ethical Admissions & Academic Integrity Policy
Ethical Boundaries in College Consulting
Effective Date: May 27, 2026
At My Admissions Sherpa (www.myadmissionssherpa.com), we believe that the college, university, and graduate school admissions process is more than just a means to an end. It is a profound journey of self-discovery, personal growth, and reflection. Our mission as independent educational consultants is to guide, mentor, and empower students to climb their personal academic mountains with integrity, authenticity, and confidence.
We are deeply committed to upholding the highest ethical college admissions consulting standards. This Academic Integrity Policy outlines our core principles and the strict boundaries we maintain to ensure that every student’s application remains entirely their own, protecting their future and the validity of their higher education journey.
1. Our Core Commitment to Authentic College Essays & Applications
The college admissions process is designed to evaluate the true character, intellect, and unique potential of the applicant. We believe that the most successful college applications are those that are fiercely authentic.
-
The Student’s Voice: We strictly ensure that the voice, ideas, and writing in every personal statement, Statement of Purpose, and college supplemental essay belong entirely to the student.
-
The Student’s Work: Every component of the application—from data entry on the Common Application to the final resume bullet point—must be completed by the student.
2. What We Do: Our Role as Your College Admissions Sherpa
A sherpa guides, supports, and ensures safety, but the climber must take every step themselves. Our college consulting services are educational, collaborative, and strategic. We provide:
-
Strategic Admissions Planning: Helping students identify best-fit colleges, build balanced college lists, map out high school coursework, and plan meaningful extracurricular activities.
-
Brainstorming & Conception: Guiding students through structured brainstorming sessions to unearth their unique stories, core values, and defining moments.
-
Feedback & Essay Editing: Providing constructive critique, structural suggestions, grammatical proofreading, and developmental editing on essay drafts. We ask guiding questions to help students clarify and elevate their own thoughts.
-
Organization & Accountability: Keeping students on track with application timelines, deadlines, and stress-management strategies.
3. What We Do Not Do: Ethical Boundaries in College Consulting
To maintain the integrity of the admissions ecosystem and protect our students from the severe consequences of application fraud, My Admissions Sherpa maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy for the following:
-
No Ghostwriting: We will never write, rewrite, or generate any portion of a student's essay, personal statement, short answer, or resume.
-
No AI-Generated Essays: While we may discuss Artificial Intelligence as a tool for basic brainstorming or outlining, we do not permit or utilize AI tools (like ChatGPT) to draft student application essays.
-
No Plagiarism: We will not accept, review, or edit work that has been copied from another source, published or unpublished.
-
No Fabrications: We will never falsify, exaggerate, or misrepresent a student’s GPA, standardized test scores, extracurricular activities, hours of commitment, honors, or heritage.
-
No Guarantees of Admission: Admission to competitive, Ivy League, or top-tier institutions depends on variables beyond anyone’s control. We guarantee expert, high-quality guidance, but we never guarantee admission to any specific institution, nor do we imply back-door or special influence with admissions offices.
4. Alignment with Professional Standards (IECA & NACAC)
My Admissions Sherpa proudly aligns its practices with the strict ethical standards established by the leading professional organizations in the higher education space, including the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA). We view university admissions officers as partners in education and strictly respect the institutional rules of every college to which our students apply.
5. Mutual Responsibility & Expectations
Ethical admissions is a partnership built on mutual trust between the consultant, the student, and the parents or guardians.
Role Responsibility: For Students - You agree to be honest about your achievements, to do 100% of your own writing, and to engage in the process with an open mind. For Parents/Guardians - You agree to support your child’s authentic voice and allow them to own their application process. We ask that parents refrain from heavy-handed editing or rewriting of student work.
For My Admissions SherpaWe promise to provide honest assessments, compassionate mentorship, and expert feedback, while always keeping your child’s best interests and long-term ethical standing at the forefront.
6. Consequences of Academic Integrity Violations
If a student or family is found to be in willful violation of this Academic Integrity Policy (e.g., submitting plagiarized work, misrepresenting credentials, or requesting that a consultant write an essay), My Admissions Sherpa reserves the right to terminate the consulting contract immediately. In such cases, no refunds will be issued for completed or remaining services.
